September 5-11, 2011 – TWO former Showdown champions Saturday night

Bands, Darts, Sweetwater Showdown, This Week...

This Saturday night, Sept. 10th, we welcome back two former Sweetwater Showdown winners – 2006 champs Code Atom and 2008 champs Dedset.  Both bands’ members are reunited after long hiatuses, with Code Atom marking this show as their last with lead singer Ray leaving Atlanta next month.  Both of these excellent modern/hard rock acts helped in the growth and reputation of Sweetwater LIVE as a major metro-Atlanta venue.  Joining these heavy-hitters are Echoes End, who themselves have made recent headlines as performers and interviewees on GPS television, as part of the Saturday afternoon broadcast of high school football games at the Georgia Dome.

Don’t forget Friday night, as we welcome back Southern rock and country artist Ashley Rivera and her exceptional band, along with Sweetwater bluegrass/folk mainstays The Four Thieves(feat. Drew Kohl, Woody Robbins) and newcomers Young America closing the night.  Show kicks off at 9:00 pm.

Wednesday evening takes a break from regular dart league action with a special blind draw tournament for everybody!  Come out to play with some of the area’s top players to see where your game stands.  Sign-up at 7:00.  Starts at 7:30.  $6 Entry.

June 13-19, 2011 – Two nights of killer progressive modern rock bands…

Bands, Darts, Karaoke, Open Mic Thursdays, Poker, This Week...

First, a big “thank you” to both Stone Phoenix and Subdivisions for hosting their CD release parties last Friday and Saturday, respectively.  Congratulations on your successful nights (and excellent new recordings, btw).

This weekend is one of our most talent-filled lineups to date!  Friday marks the return of Sweetwater Showodown IX champions Wake of the Titan, who bring a mix of smart, sincere progressive modern rock that really takes the listener for a ride.  Opening for them are Waking the Bates and NovaKord, two phenominal Atlanta bands with influences including (but not limited to) the Beatles, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley and the Black Keys.  Saturday night welcomes back longtime friends Toy Devils and FYN, along with the long-overdue return of Ever Vega.  This show mixes a truly unique alternative sound with the energy of grunge and hard rock.

As always, you can visit the Events page regarding days and times for poker, billiard and dart tournaments, open mic, karaoke and special events. Thanks for your support!

This Week – September 13th to 19th, 2010

Bands, Darts, Sweetwater Showdown, This Week...

Hello Sweetwater patrons old and new, welcome to another installment of “This Week at Sweetwater”, providing juicy details of our weekly happenings every Monday.

This is an exciting time of year, as Saturday kicks off the semi-final round of the ninth-annual Sweetwater Showdown Battle of the Bands.  Five Brothers on a Mission, Wake of the Titan, and Eyes of Torment will surely be bringing their A-game, with only one advancing to the final round on November 13th.  Come out for a fantastic night of local music as these talented, yet very different, bands entertain a packed house.

Our regular shows are still going strong, as Atlanta’s own Grand Prize Winners From Last Year hightlight Friday night along with neo-soul newcomers The Divide and indie-alternative rockers The Brightside Suicides.  Check out my just-published interview of G.P.W.F.L.Y. at their East Atlanta rehearsal space, the first of many more to come.  Don’t forget about Thursday night, as Sweetwater golden-boys Drew Kohl and Kyle Robbins team up for another killer acoustic show, with Benjamin K.E.’s new band The Collections opening.

In other Sweetwater news… the MADA starts their Monday night weekly dart tournament this evening, so make sure you get out there early for sign-up to be part of their relaxed, but competitive, dart league. And remember that $6 Bud/Bud Light pitchers and daily $2.50 shooters specials are still alive and well.

That’s all I have for this week, Subtle out!
