A passing of the torch…

To all of the supporters of local original music at Sweetwater LIVE,

It is with both extreme excitement and sadness that I officially announce that I am stepping down from my responsibilities as booking and promotion manager of live music at Sweetwater Bar and Grill.  Taking my place is Open Mic Thursday host, Sunday night acoustic performer, and good friend Taymin Rainey, whose unwavering passion for the local music scene has been an inspiration to me, as well as countless others.  I have the upmost faith that he will not only fill my shoes admirably, but will take both Sweetwater LIVE and the metro-Atlanta scene to new levels.  For any bands that have worked with us before, you can contact Taymin for booking on Facebook, via email at tayminmusicinc@gmail.com, or through his cell phone at 404-399-0073.  New bands can go to www.sweetwaterbarandgrill.com/booking.html and fill out the online submission form, which will be forwarded and reviewed by Taymin.  Please be patient as he settles into the routine and responsibilities of this job, thanks!

My decision is based solely on a desire to spend more time with my wife LD and two-year-old daughter Ella, as the ownership, management and staff of Sweetwater continues to be the standard in how to run a fun bar with class and consistency.  I will still be hosting Mr. Smokey’s Karaoke every Tuesday and Wednesday night, so I encourage anyone to come hang out with my rambunctious crew of misfits… and, hell, maybe even sing some Misfits!  I can’t express enough the appreciation I have for the musicians who give everything they have to their craft, and it has been a pleasure to be a small part of helping them flourish.  Lastly, and just as importantly, thank you to the music fans who have allowed me to be part of this industry for over a decade, we ALL owe everything to you.

With a heavy heart and much love,

Jesse Busch

March 27 to April 1, 2012 – Abyss throws down one more time at Sweetwater

Saturday will be a special night for Sweetwater LIVE as Gwinnett hard rockers Abyss play their final show. Abyss is a top-notch band (and top-quality people) whom we have had the pleasure of working with for the past NINE years. Opening are friends and 2010 Sweetwater Showdown champions Wake Of The Titan and finishing the show is veteran rock band Stone Phoenix.

Don’t forget Friday night, though… Funguy, Barrel House, and Groove Moose roll back into Sweetwater to rock it harder than Donkey Kong.

Mr. Smokey’s Karaoke Tuesday and Wednesday, Open Mic on Thursday, and the April Fool’s acoustic apocalypse with Taymin…

March 19-25, 2012 – Metal and the macabre moves into Duluth

Hey party people!  A special thanks to Eddie Singleton and Reel One Entertainment for ulitizing Sweetwater LIVE for a scene shoot last Sunday.  Keep an eye out for their independent film “blackhats”.

Friday is a special CD-release show for progressive metal act Machina Celestis, joined by longtime Sweetwater metal regulars The Bone Church and instrumental newcomers Letters To Strangers. Saturday evening brings in The Ivory Method, Toy Devils, and The Joy Kills. This high-energy, progressive lineup is stocked full of unique local talent.

As always, Mr. Smokey’s Karaoke Tuesday and Wednesday, Open Mic on Thursday, and Taymin playing acoustic on Sunday. Hope to see you soon!

Taymin kicks off his Acoustic Sundays tonight at 8pm!

We are excited to welcome Taymin, our Thursday Open Mic host, as our regular music entertainment every Sunday night at Sweetwater Bar and Grill.  He will be throwing down a diverse array of both covers and originals on the music side of the bar.  An awesome guy who loves everything about the Atlanta music scene…. most of all, the fans that support it and allow us to keep booking and showcasing local talent.  Oh yeah, and he’s really good.  Serious.
